- Description
- The selected organization or agency will provide Moral Reconation Therapy, to the women and men of Kona Drug Court. MRT consists of group sessions and follow up individual sessions with each participant. Training for MRT consists of facilitators of MRT being certified in MRT facilitation and coordinating MRT training of the Drug Court Team (non facilitator, abbreviated training) in the MRT methodology and principles. MRT is a curriculum based, cognitive behavioral therapy designed to address severe criminal thinking. It is effective in treating substance abuse, trauma, patterns of domestic violence, and other issues that intersect with women’s involvement in criminal behavior. Studies have shown that offenders who receive MRT are far less likely to be re-arrested or reincarcerated. One study that tracked nearly 1,400 participants over 20 years found that the use of MRT reduced the likelihood of an offender being re-incarcerated by nearly 30%.
